St. Mary – Cooksville, MD

+ The idea of forming a church community began in 1992 when the church incorporation was formed.

+ First liturgy was in 1992

+ The congregation rented places to pray between 1992 and 1994.

+ Priests Who Served:
– Fr. Guirguis Gobrail served at St. Mary Church from 1995 until 2013.
– Father Shenouda Ebeid was ordained in 2000 by Pope Shenouda III and has been serving in the Church of the Virgin Mary in Maryland since 2013.
– Fr. Mena Attwa started his service at St. Mark’s Coptic Orthodox Church of Washington DC in 2001. He was ordained as a priest in Nairobi in 2009 by Pope Shenouda III and has been serving in the Church of the Virgin Mary in Maryland since 2015.

+ In 1994, a church building in Savage, Maryland, was purchased, and in 2017, a former school campus was purchased in Cooksville, MD, where the church moved.

+ The church building in Savage, Maryland, was consecrated on October 14, 1994, by His Holiness Pope Shenouda III.
