St. Mary & St. Bishoy – Allentown, PA + The Idea proposed by families from St. George of Philadelphia to Fr. Roufail to start a church community in the Lehigh Valley area. Fr. Roufail accepted the responsibility to establish the church and serve the congregation. A meeting held in May-June 2004 to discuss plans, including church name, frequency of services, and financial independence. + First Liturgy was held in Nativity Lutheran Church (Tilghman St., Allentown) on August 28th, 2004. Bishop Makarious and Fr. Roufail officiated the first service.
+ Rental Locations for Prayer:
– Prayed at Nativity Lutheran Church until June 2009.
– Moved to Hope Church (Flexer Ave, Allentown) on August 29th, 2009.
+ Priests Who Served:
Bishop David visited St. Mary and St. Bishoy Church in June 2010.
– He conducted a vote among the congregation regarding the ordination of Mr. Nazeeh Awad as a priest.
– Bishop David announced that Mr. Nazeeh Awad would be ordained during Pope Shenouda’s next visit to the US.
– He also appointed Fr. Youssef Shehata to take responsibility for the church.
